Diabetes Partners supports Lions and other volunteer organizations in the fight against diabetes
Type 2 diabetes is now the largest epidemic in human history. Many don’t know they have elevated blood sugar (hyperglycemia) and are at risk for diabetes or pre-diabetes. Diabetes is a main cause of blindness, heart attacks, amputation, and kidney failure. Caught and treated early enough, diabetes can be prevented (or reduced) before irreverseable organ damages occurs.
Volunteer organizations can help by increasing public awareness and offering screening using simple risk assessments, or by sponsoring blood screening events.
Lions Clubs International has made diabetes awareness and prevention a signature initiative. This site is to assist Lions in Georgia’s District 18-I and others to hold diabetes-related events by providing a central location for related information and tools.
If your organization or group wishes to host a Lions presentation or program, please submit our information through the Contact link.
